Critical Alignment Yoga is therapeutic form of yoga. It can heal ailments of neck, shoulders, upper back, lower back and sacrum to name some areas. It also works healing for ailments as CANS (Complaints of Arm, Neck and/or Shoulder) and it increases body awareness, while uniting yoga movement, strength, balance, breath, coordination and meditation. Critical Alignment Yoga tackles chronic stress that we build up on both psychological and physical levels throughout our lives.
The yoga practicers body awareness, as well as anatomical knowledge will increase, allowing the practicer to find new ways to move through daily life without as much stress buildup than previously and with less pain. Critical Alignment Yoga releases deep muscle tension, allowing the spine to gain its freedom of movement again. The practicer will also experience mental ease and stillness that comes with deep relaxation of the muscles, breath, and with strength & coordination building yoga movements. This allows tension to dissolve in the experience of the body as a whole and the body can be perceived in its wholeness through positive, connecting feelings like lightness, spaciousness, ease and gladness.
At the classes several tools and props are used to tackle the tension in the muscles in passive coordination exercises. Once the stiffness is released, the teacher will guide the practicers into yoga movements that will add strength, coordination and suppleness. The strength of the body transforms into mental and emotional strength that helps the practicers to live content and happy lives.
My name is Loviisa Mellin and I’m certified Critical Alignment Yoga (CAY) and Critical Alignment Therapy (CAT) teacher.
I graduated from the Critical Alignment Yoga institute in Amsterdam in 2017. The 4 year study is completed with broad anatomical knowledge about ailments in the lower back, upper back, neck and schoulders. Additionally I finished the Critical Alignment Yoga Therapy teacher education in 2018 and have been teaching students with various upper and lower back, schoulder and neck problems since.
